The historic John Marshall Ballrooms is a lovely venue option for any elegant Richmond wedding or event. Originally a hotel in 1929, the John Marshall Ballrooms has hosted iconic figures such as Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Tyler Moore, and Elvis Presley along with political figures such as Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
Now the John Marshall Ballrooms hosts many elegant Richmond weddings, events, galas, and so much more. When you first enter, you are greeted with an impressive Lobby with a marble staircase and columns. To the right, you will find a built-in bar and pre-function space, perfect for cocktail hour. Guests can mingle, enjoy the live music gently flowing through the space, and there is plenty of room for a photo booth or other fun party entertainment. To the left of the Lobby is the grand Marshall Ballroom, where this ballroom is the picture of sophistication and timeless elegance. The Marshall Ballroom brings to life that classic Richmond look, decorated with vintage crystal chandeliers, three walls of 30 ft windows, and lead paned glass windows, encased in elaborate handcrafted moldings. The John Marshall Ballrooms provide a beautiful setting for an elegant Richmond wedding, parties, or any event.
Behind the Marshall Ballroom is the Virginia Ballroom, an elegant architectural style ballroom that can accommodate up to 350 guests. Featuring magnificent chandeliers and a gorgeous wrap-around balcony with a split staircase for a magnificent grand entrance, the Virginia Ballroom provides the perfect, luxury setting for your wedding, party, corporate function, gala, or any special occasion.
As a professional Richmond wedding music band, we love this venue for its diverse spaces, natural flow, and upscale look. Photos of each ballroom and especially the grand staircase never cease to amaze us. We have played for multiple occasions here, including the Director of Weddings & Special Events’ daughter’s wedding, and fundraising gala for St. Bridget’s Catholic School.
